Responsible for implementing legislative strategies to advance NADA's goals. Serve as an advocate for franchised auto and truck dealer members before Congress.


Essential Functions:  

  • Develop legislative communication strategies. Write and edit internal and external communications, testimony, fact sheets, web content, talking points, and presentations for the Legislative Affairs office.
  • Closely follow congressional action, analyze bills, and execute bipartisan legislative strategies.
  • Responsible for lobbying Members of Congress and staff to advocate NADA's position at direction of senior staff in the legislative office.
  • Promote and strengthen relationships with Members of Congress, particularly on key committees, and congressional staff.
  • Assist with grassroots efforts.
  • Maintain the substantive and procedural expertise necessary to lobby Congress effectively on assigned issues.
  • Work closely with industry-based coalitions on issues of mutual interest.
  • Coordinate with other NADA Departments, such as Public Affairs, to enhance and strengthen the effectiveness of legislative communications.


Non-Essential Functions:      

  • Assist with planning annual Washington Conference.
  • Enhance visual effectiveness of legislative lobbying materials and communications.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications: Education and Work Experience

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Political Science or communications. Seven plus years of legislative experience, including a lobbying background preferred. Bipartisan contacts with tax, financial services, transportation or automotive policy experience a plus. Must have superior writing and communication skills. Critical thinking, creative problem solving, and consensus building are highly desirable. Excellent organizational, advocacy, and political skills required. Candidate must have proven success record promoting a legislative agenda.
