Summary:

Support the advocacy and educational functions of NADA Regulatory Affairs.

           

Essential Functions:  

  • Track, research, and analyze federal and state statutory, regulatory, and judicial developments for potential member impacts and help develop NADA responses to those developments.
  • Engage with and advocate before key policy entities and coalitions and draft NADA policy positions, comments, testimony, and other communications in support of such advocacy.
  • Draft, compile, and disseminate compliance information pertaining to federal regulatory requirements to franchised automobile and truck dealers, state and metro dealer associations, dealer compliance professionals, and other relevant groups through articles, guides, bulletins, webinars, live presentations, conference calls, etc.
  • Respond to inquiries from NADA members, state and metro dealer associations, dealer compliance professionals, coalition partners, and others on topics relating to regulatory issues.
  • Update and maintain NADA's Regulatory Affairs web page and other regulatory content on the association's website.  
  • Design and develop research projects as required.
  • Assist the department in meeting its responsibilities in all regulatory matters of interest to NADA members.

           

Non-Essential Functions:      

  • Attend hearings and meetings as assigned.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

           

Qualifications: Education and Work Experience

Bachelor and JD degrees with strong academic standing from accredited college and law school. Membership in good standing in the bar of at least one U.S. state or the District of Columbia. Five years total attorney experience with a trade association, law firm, or government agency preferred. Experience with federal regulatory process a significant plus. Knowledge of retail auto industry and/or EPA, DOT, and DOL issues also a plus. Successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, and the initiative and self-discipline to generate quality work products. Excellent research, analytical, writing, and advocacy skills required. Computer skills in word processing, database, Internet, and social media required.
